Some aspects of Calico may draw comparisons to the beloved Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Befriending animals, creating a character and collecting new clothing items, decorating and designing the cat cafe, and playing mini-games are all a part of the fun.

The game’s focus is on the animal interaction, as every creature can be befriended, named, added to the party, and finally given a home at the cafe. Decorating the cafe is also key in Calico, as players can collect and arrange a wide assortment of toys, decorations, and furniture; some of which are focused on humans, others are designed for the animals. There are also magical elements to the game, including potions that allow the player to become a giant-sized animal and roam the world. With such an interesting array of things to do, Calico could easily be a must-have game for cat lovers.
Interestingly enough, on the Nintendo side, Calico is not the only kitty-cat game to get news for Nintendo’s hybrid console today. Fisti-Fluffs was revealed as a timed Switch exclusive earlier, a bizarre and intense cat-fight brawler with a charming art-style. With Calico, Fisti-Fluffs, and even Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, there is plenty of feline fun lined up for the Nintendo Switch.
Calico is out now on Switch, PC, and Xbox.
